Our research indicates that this 1921 Proof Sixpence is the only known specimen held in private hands. Only one other example is known and it is held in the Museum of Victoria.

The coin was struck at the Melbourne Mint by authority of the Mintmaster, Mr A H Le Soeuf; a passionate coin collector with a known preference for silver proofs.

Now while it is fair to say that all George V archival silver proofs (1911 to 1936) are very rarely offered, some years are recognised as being virtually impossible to find, they being 1919, 1920 and 1921. (The world was in financial turmoil due to fluctuating silver prices during this era.)

In the current financial climate, buyers will be looking for coins that offer price stability … rarity and quality being the key issues here. This 1921 Proof Sixpence has both.
