Leading the world with groundbreaking technology, Australia issued the first ever polymer banknote on January 26 1988 in the form of the Bicentenary $10. Standard issues followed in 1992 with the $5 and the polymer changeover was completed with the $100 note in 1996. The new technology, designs and numbering method have led to a surge in collecting polymer banknotes and collectors can obtain yearly sets, first day of issue and collector folders in their search for polymer notes.
Note Printing Australia has successfully introduced polymer banknotes to other countries both as commemorative and regular issues.
